Due to the high level nature of these events and the time of the year (WINTER!) you MUST wear/carry the following items:

  • Boots or fell running shoes that in the organisers opinion are fully suitable for the type of rough terrain;
  • WATERPROOF whole body cover. 'Waterproof' means with taped seams, and not 'windproof';
  • Other body cover appropriate for the weather conditions;
  • Hat and Gloves;
  • Survival bag (it MUST be a bag and not simply a blanket), plastic or foil;
  • Compass suitable for navigating the course;
  • Whistle;
  • Watch;
  • Sufficient coins for telephone calls or a mobile phone;
  • A plentiful supply of liquid and food;
  • Race number - will be supplied on the day and need to be worn and visible!
  • Not mandatory, but consider micro spikes if there is snow expected on the hills


​Please do not skimp on equipment - Hypothermia is dangerous, it is not worth it !! Event marshals will not let you start or disqualify anyone who does not meet the equipment criteria. 


To allow for a speedy registration process - for teams, please come together to registration:

  1. Registration 1 desk: Get your race number
  2. Registration 2 desk: Get your hire dibber or connect & clear your own dibber to your entry

  1. Your team member (if you run in a team)
  2. Completed disclaimer form(s)
  3. If you haven't completed the disclaimer form before the race, you can fill one in at registration. You will need your car registration and emergency contact details at registration
  4. If you have your own dibber, bring it to registration
  5. Registration is in 2 steps, do NOT go to the start without completing both steps
  6. Bring your kit to registration as there will a mandatory kit check at registration​​

  • The walk to the start is through the centre of the village - please keep the noise down early in the morning

  • Steve Wilson from Grand Day Out Photography will be out on the fells again to capture your exploits and some of the scenery out on the course. Given the nature of the event, it is impossible for Steve to photograph everybody (not everybody is following the same route), but Steve is brilliant in choosing the best positions to photograph as many people as possible. Photographs can be purchased after the event from www.granddayoutphotography.co.uk so you will be able to show your family and friends your experience of running over some of the UK's finest fells.

  • We are working with our ecologist David Broom to ensure we deliver sustainable events - please read his ecological assessment for the Capel Curig event - interesting and important:




  • We are running our Mini Mountain Marathon under the rules and regulations of the Fell Runners association (FRA). Have a look on their website for requirements for runners. 

Registration is at the Capel Curig Community Centre, Capel Curig, North Wales LL24 0EE (alongside the A5 from Betws-Y-Coed . Look out for white and black Kong directional signs on the day. Registration opens at 7:30 am and closes at 10 am. Try to arrive at least 30 mins before you intend to run. At the start you will be given a water-resistant map and a control description / value sheet. The start is circa 20 mins from the hall. 


We have organised car parking for £3 per car in one of the fields of Bryn Tyrch Farm campsite, Capel Curig LL24 0EL (look for Kong Mini Mountain Marathon parking signs). It is also possible to camp before the race at the Farm campsite. Please follow the instructions from our marshals on the day. Please do NOT park elsewhere in the village.

The race is 4 hours of superb Open Access fell / trail running with navigation in a Mini Mountain Marathon type score format. Food (soup, bread and cakes) & hot drinks after the race is included. Enter as solos or pairs in a variety of age categories.


Prices are £22 per person via on line entry or £26 on the day. This includes water-resistant, full colour map, SPORTident chip timing and lunch. An electronic dibber can be hired for £2 per person if you don't own one yourself. For most races we do have entry on the day available, but as we might not have enough maps or electronic hire dibbers, it is best to call us on 07760 558031 or 07469 895267 or email us on info@minimountainmarathon.co.uk to check if there are places available 

Weather conditions/postponements/entry fees: in the event of inclement weather, we will do our utmost to run the events but safety will not be compromised under any circumstances. Should we have to postpone an event all entries and fees will be transferred to a re-scheduled date; if you cannot make this date then entry fees will be held over as a credit towards future Mini Mountain Marathons OR refunds will be given less a 25% admin fee (to cover our ongoing event costs). 

Cancellations or transfers for injuries or other reasons: We don’t provide refunds and cancellations for any circumstances. Up to two weeks before the race it is possible to request a transfer to a future event in the same series (same year). After two weeks we can not honour transfers as most of the cost for the race will have been made.  

If you hire a dibber from us you are responsible to return it unharmed. If you loose a dibber we will have to charge you the replacement cost of one - £30. If you break a dibber we will charge half the cost of a replacement - £15. 

The category you fall in is determined based on your age on the first of January or the oldest runner in your pair. We also have an Under 23 category (based on the youngest runner in a pair), but the SiEntries system cannot apply more than one age rule. Therefore please let us know at registration and we will change the category for you.

The Kong Mini Mountain Marathon series 2018 comprises of four x 4 hour fell running & navigation events in North Wales, the Peak District and the Lake District (x2). Best 3 results count towards a final league score with great prizes (vouchers from our sponsor Kong Adventure). Each event is a challenging and testing event across moorland, fell or mountainous terrain. As it is a score event everybody can set out a route that matches their ability. Strong walkers are welcome. After the race there is plenty of time to share your stories with your fellow competitors over a hearty lunch with hot/cold drinks. Our homemade soup and specially the homemade cakes are well known.

 

The FIRST race of the 2019 Series will be held on Sunday 3rd February from Capel Curig in North Wales. A beautiful area with famous Welsh mountains like Tryfan and Carnedd Llewelyn and fantastic views over the wide Welsh mountain valleys.
